As a local business, as well as a part of the community, service is not just about performing tasks when needed. It’s about providing what we can back to those in need. The North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA) tasks each CPA company each year to join with them in providing a day of volunteerism to a charity or non-profit organization. This year, Blackman & Sloop CPAs, P.A. chose the Ronald McDonald House and the SECU Family House to volunteer ourselves for the day.

The Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill is a beacon of hope for more than 2,000 families that travel to Chapel Hill each year for their child’s treatment at area hospitals. The House provides a setting for family and community to flourish, and offers caring and support to families struggling with a child’s illness.

Right next door, the SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals provides housing, healing, and hope to families with an adult patient being treated for a critical illness or injury at UNC Hospitals or its affiliated clinics.

The NCACPA was founded in 1919, and for the past 90 years has been successful in serving North Carolina’s CPAs, regardless of their area of accounting or professional climate. The association’s leaders and staff are dedicated to monitoring changes within the profession and ensuring members have the resources they need.

The association’s 30+ committees, chapters, task forces, and advisory groups regularly interact with the North Carolina State Board of CPA Examiners, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Financial Accounting Standards Board, Internal Revenue Service, and other regulators who shape state and national accounting standards. These vital efforts enable NCACPA to meet its mission of promoting the competence, integrity, civic responsibility, and success of North Carolina CPAs.

Partner Andrea Eason stated “It was very rewarding feeling to be able to give back to our community together as a Firm and as a profession across the state of North Carolina.  That is real teamwork!”

The Day Of Service is Blackman & Sloop, CPAs, P.A.’s way of showing our commitment to our community, as well as our support for the charities and organizations represented.
