Blackman & Sloop, CPAs, P.A. is pleased to announce the addition of Laura M. Bennett, EA to their professional team.

Bennett joins the firm as a senior associate and will work in the Tax Department. She specializes in serving trusts, estates, and high net-worth individuals. Prior to joining Blackman & Sloop, Bennett spent almost nine years with Piedmont Trust Company, serving most recently as the director of tax services.

“We are happy to have Laura on our team,” said Andrea Woodell Eason, CPA, CGMA, Managing Partner at Blackman & Sloop. “With nearly 20 years in the industry, she brings a great deal of knowledge and experience that will benefit both our clients and our firm.”

In 1994, Bennett earned a Bachelor of Art in Economics from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill (UNC-CH). She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and a Master of Science in Accountancy from the University of North Carolina – Greensboro. She remains involved with UNC-CH via the General Alumni Association. An active member of her local community, Bennett serves as treasurer of both the Altamahaw-Ossipee Elementary PTA and the Historic Providence Memorial Association. She is also affiliated with the North Carolina Society of Enrolled Agents—previously as a board member and currently as secretary and chair of the Membership Committee—and the National Association of Enrolled Agents. Raised in Graham, North Carolina, Bennett currently resides in Burlington with her husband, Anthony, and their two children, Gabe and Grayson.
