The local accounting firm of Blackman & Sloop, CPAs, P.A. is pleased to announce the addition of Trisha Distler, CPA, Joseph “Trey” Kirby, CPA, and Katelyn Schubel to their professional team. 

Distler joins the firm as a tax manager. In this capacity, she manages client projects, prepares and reviews corporate and individual tax returns, and provides tax planning services. She brings with her fifteen years of experience in the accounting industry. Kirby and Schubel both join Blackman & Sloop as audit associates. Prior to joining the firm, Kirby worked as a lead accountant for the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants. In her new role, Schubel is establishing her professional accounting career.

A graduate of the University of Missouri, Distler earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1990 and a Master of Science in 1999. She is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Florida Institute of CPAs (FICPA). She currently lives in Hillsborough, North Carolina with her spouse and their two children. 

Kirby earned a Bachelor of Science in Golf Management from North Carolina State University in 2012. He went on to attend Liberty University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 2014. He is affiliated with the AICPA and the North Carolina Association of CPAs (NCACPA). He lives in Roxboro, North Carolina with his wife, Sarah. 

Schubel attended the University of North Carolina at Asheville, graduating summa cum laude in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in New Media and minors in accounting and computer science. Raised in Cary, North Carolina, she currently resides in Durham.
