R.B. Fitch began creating Fearrington Village in 1974 and has been crafting Fearrington at a steady, measured pace ever since. From offices in Fearrington’s Village Center, R.B. has built a village of nearly 2,000 residents, and it remains their sole focus. His late wife Jenny was instrumental in starting Fearrington, for example decorating model homes that garnered national media attention and starting the Village Center. Fitch Creations, Inc. continues to be a family business, run by R.B. and assisted by his daughter Keebe and son Greg.

Located next to the college town of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Fearrington today seamlessly blends the old with the new, the regional with the cosmopolitan, a distinct sense of place with the unexpected. The result is both reassuring and forward looking, exciting and comforting.

Fitch Creations, Inc. also owns and manages most of the businesses in the Village Center, including not only the flagship Fearrington House Inn and Restaurant, but also The Spa at Fearrington, McIntyre’s Books, other restaurants including The Fearrington Granary Restaurant, The Belted Goat Deli and Roost, a beer garden; shops that include Dovecote and Haven, and a weddings and meetings business. Fearrington is a rejuvenating retreat for the senses.
